I agree completely. The problem becomes when, in our challenging perspectives, we <accidentally> erase someone else’s experience. I believe that our starting points should always be: I wasn’t there, thus I must trust those who were, especially when I have the potential of speaking from a position of privilege. I also believe that critiques can not be one-sided if they are to be intelligent: just because someone says something, doesn’t make their observation automatically valid.
