The difference is in the process. Facilitating would be similar to co-design, where you work together to reach some end goal. I imagine that through facilitation, transformation can (maybe hopefully) occur, but isn’t the goal or isn’t guaranteed. Design that is transformative, speaks to the end result. That may be about what happens to the designer or the participants — in the end, or it can be about the impact the design has once it has been put into the “world”.
